Woo hoo - the shortlist for the SBID international design awards is out, and Avocado Sweets has two projects chosen! The studio's designs for residential project, Islington Apartment and Indian street eats restaurant, Chit Chaat Chai, are competing for the top spot in the Intelligent Design category.
One of the most prestigious in the industry, the Society of British and International Design (SBID) awards attract hot competition from Interior Designers across the globe.
Announced on 30 August 2016, the shortlist sees the Avocado Sweets projects up against competition from designers in the UK, United States, China, Ukraine, Malta and Brazil.
The public are now being asked to cast their votes for their favourite designs, with the winners announced at an awards ceremony in the Dorchester Hotel in November.
Commenting on the awards, Evros Agathou, Creative Director said: "We're really excited to be shortlisted in the SBID international awards for the fifth year in a row. Intelligent Design puts a spotlight on our interior design as an enabler. We don't just design good looking spaces, we design good looking solutions. Whether that's the vertical lego playroom in the compact Islington Apartment, or unique newspaper flooring to make debut restaurant Chit Chaat Chai stand out from the crowd, innovation is quickly becoming an Avocado Sweets trademark."
Susie Agathou, Business Development Director added: "We're always looking to push the boundaries in design, not for the sake of it, but to give our clients a really special result. If you like what you see, please do cast your vote for our Islington Apartment design or for Chit Chaat Chai. We really appreciate all your support."
Finalists in the 14 award categories were chosen by the international judging panel of industry leaders, including Lewis Carnie, Head of Programmes, BBC Radio 2; Marek Reichman, Chief Creative Officer and Design Director at Aston Martin; Sir Michael Dixon, Director of the Natural History Museum, London; Ben McOwen Wilson, Director of YouTube EMEA; Kevin Mau, Senior Creative Director at the Boeing Company; David Lewis, Managing Director of Sunseeker London and Jane Preston, Facilities Manager UK, Real Estate & Workplace Services, Google.
Avocado Sweets has enjoyed numerous award successes over the past five years, including winning the Intelligent Design category in the SBID International Design Awards in 2014. Fingers crossed for these shortlisted projects in 2016!
