Humorous 'Little and Large' Design Wins Industry Praise

A traditional insurance office has been transformed into one of the quirkiest work places in London by Avocado Sweets Interior Design Studio (March 2012), winning the praise of the industry's experts.

The studio's ‘Little and Large’ design mirrors the company’s owners, brothers Andy and Solomon Tzouvanni, who have re-branded literally in their own image.

At 5’3 Andy has his own little door, desk and John Lewis Elliot lamp while six foot Solomon has a big version of each. Two Innermost Jeeves bowler hat pendant lights by Jake Phipps hang above each door to reflect the brothers’ new branding (themselves in bowler hats). To show insurance doesn’t have to be boring, a putting green (in Little and Large blue astroturf) runs down the centre of the room.

No detail is left untouched - even the drinks in the fridge are based around the company name, with little and large cola on offer to visitors. A hat stand stencil by French company Domestic finishes off the humorous look.

The design was the brainchild of Evros Agathou of Avocado Sweets Interior Design Studio.   His brief was to help launch the new Insurance by brand by re-designing their office as a stand out feature to make a buzz in the business community.

“The Little and Large office was a really fun project with a serious business objective behind it,” says Evros Agathou.

“The interiors had to reflect the humour of the branding without slipping into the ridiculous.  To achieve this I used statement pieces, such as the Jake Phipps hats, with quirky touches like the hat stand stencil from Domestic.  I kept the walls white to allow the artwork of the products to stand out without looking too busy.  Storage was specially created to avoid clutter and keep a fresh modern look,” he added.

This latest Avocado Sweets design has already created a buzz in the business community helping the property insurance specialists win new business and enhance relationships with existing clients, including leading international brands.

Vanessa Brady, President of the Society of British Interior Designers said: "Creative design that helps achieve a company's business goals is what good British design should be all about. Avocado Sweets interior design studio has showcased this approach perfectly in their Little and Large design while creating one of the quirkiest offices around."

Andy Tzouvanni (Little) said: “We love it and most importantly our clients love it. The Avocado Sweets design has created a great buzz. In this trading climate we’ve discovered first hand how interior design is essential to creating the impact we needed to build our brand. Everyone leaves the office smiling.”

Solomon (Large) added: ”I hate sitting still and think much better when I’m moving around. The putting green is perfect to help me work in the most productive way to get the best for our clients. We’re not as big as google but our office shows that thinking creatively can get the best out of your business whatever you do.”

Avocado Sweets interior design studio was set up in 2010 with a mission to transform everyday living with exceptional design.  The lastest commissions for the London based studio include a residential home in Highgate and a high end house in Bayswater for a property developer.
