We’re delighted to announce that we are the winner of a prestigious SBID International Design Excellence Award. Our Stoke Newington Apartment saw off competition from 30 countries to be crowned winner in the Intelligent Design category.
We caught up with Vanessa Brady OBE, President of the Society of British and International Design (SBID) at the ceremony who said: "The judges commented that this design in particular, demonstrates intelligence. You've covered all the compliance issues, all the family issues, location, lifestyle and still made it unique, and that is very, very special. This design looks like it's been there forever which is a very difficult thing to do. It's colourful, different, unique, fits the location and its timeless - good design that will last."
Avocado Sweets Creative Director, Evros Agathou said: "We are incredibly honoured to be an SBID international design awards winner and have our work recognised across the globe. Our designs are made with passion and a belief in the power of exceptional design to improve everyday life. We love what we do and it's a joy to have our work recognised on the international stage."
The eclectic design pioneered the use of fire prevention technology to enable a one-of-a-kind open-plan kitchen in a school house conversion.
The annual SBID International Design Excellence Awards winners were revealed last night, 14 November, at an awards ceremony in the Dorchester Hotel, London and were decided by a combination of a panel of judges and a public vote.
Avocado Sweets has been shortlisted for the past two years in the SBID international design awards: in the Entertainment Space category for our Poppies of Camden design in 2013; and in the Innovation category in 2012 for our design of the headquarters for Insurance by LittleNLarge.com.
